Balsam Hospital

Excellent received Balsam Hospital in its primitive plans when it was only a structure, designed and implemented all the mechanical, electrical, architectural, and civil works, as well as internal and external finishes, and equipped all the necessary systems in the hospitals, including the medical gas system and cooling systems. Central heating with an automated water treatment and deionization (RO) system and hospital information system. Modern (HIS), furnishing and equipping the operating and intensive care halls and the sterilisation unit of the entire hospital with medical devices and medical furniture until the end of the project, its opening, establishing administration, and finally handing over the key.

Balsam Hospital is built on an area of 2000 m2 and a building area of 8000 m2 on 7 floors. It consists of 100 beds: 72 patient beds, 12 intensive care unit beds, and 6 intensive care unit beds. Inpatient specialties are general medicine, cardiology, general surgery, urology, orthopaedics, the eye department, the paediatric department, obstetrics and gynaecology, plastic surgery, and the physical therapy department. It has eight operating theatres, Fig. 1: cardiac surgery and catheterization. Department of Radiology, Ultrasound, and MRI, General Laboratory, Genetics Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Outpatient Clinics, and many more medical facilities and services to cater to the diverse healthcare needs of patients.

Hiwa Operation Rooms

The project “Design, equip, and implement operating theatres in Hiwa Hospital” was carried out in the city of Sulaymaniyah by Excellent in collaboration with Halgurd Mechanical Solutions Company. The project was funded by KRG’s Cancer Fund Box and Mr. Jamal Haj Ali – Bayad Group. The unit is intended to be an addition to Hiwa Cancer Hospital to accommodate the hospital’s expanding needs. On a three-story, 600-square-metre structure, the project includes four operation rooms, an intensive care unit, eight ICU beds, a sterilization unit, 48 patient rooms, and doctor’s clinics.

The project, designed for cancer surgery, medical services, and patient rooms, is the first facility in Kurdistan and Iraq to use GRP composites for walls, ceilings, and doors. It includes stainless steel equipment and medical furniture, a rooftop package central cooling system, a medical gas system, anti-static and conductive vinyl flooring, and electricity generators and UPS. The project also includes the design and completion of all mechanical, civil, and electrical works.

Nanakali Outpatient Building

Completed all work sectors with excellence, including designing, building, electrical, mechanical, furnishing, and equipping the new outpatient department building at Nankli Hospital in Erbil. The facility spans 550 square metres and has three stories. The project was funded by Nanakali Charity Founda, which is seen as an expansion of the hospital’s previous structure.

The structure, which includes exam rooms, specialty doctor’s clinics, and separate hallways for administering chemotherapy to both adult and paediatric patients, was built with the purpose of housing outpatient cancer patients. Antibacterial paints, vinyl flooring, antibacterial aluminium ceilings, medical gas systems, and other materials were used in the construction of the project in compliance with international medical standards. The job was successfully completed in the allotted amount of time.

Anwar Sheikha Medical City

Excellent has supplied the most up-to-date medical equipment for most departments of Anwar Sheikha Medical City in Sulaymaniyah, including the operating rooms, critical care units, emergency rooms, and outpatient clinics. Departments include paediatrics, dentistry, ophthalmology, cardiac, and physical therapy. These departments are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by highly skilled medical professionals to ensure the best possible care for patients.

The operating room and intensive care unit for the cardiac operations departments were also constructed and equipped with GRP materials on an area of 240 square meters. GRP was used for wall cladding, the ceiling, and the doors. The unit was equipped with all medical equipment, large furniture, anaesthesia machines, a heart and lung machine, and intensive care equipment. In addition to the advanced technology and skilled staff, the operating room and intensive care unit are designed to provide a comfortable and efficient environment for patients undergoing catheterization and cardiac operations. The inclusion of GRP materials in the construction ensures durability and easy maintenance, while the presence of essential medical equipment guarantees comprehensive care throughout the procedures.

JIM-NET House

JIM-NET House is a 3-story comprehensive support facility for cancer diagnosed children in Erbil, built on an area of 500 square meteres on the grounds of Nanakali Hospital and equipped with facilities for children to play and learn, in addition to housing for families of patients in the hospital. The project was funded through a Japanese government grant from non-governmental organizations and was implemented by a team of distinguished engineers at Excellent over a period of 10 months, and the project was delivered in January 2019.

The JIM-NET House aims to provide a nurturing environment for children undergoing cancer treatment by offering various recreational activities and educational opportunities. The facility not only caters to the medical needs of the patients but also ensures that their families have a comfortable place to stay during their loved one’s treatment. The collaboration between the Japanese government, non-governmental organizations, and Excellent engineers highlights the commitment towards improving the lives of cancer-diagnosed children in Erbil.
